TRACKTOWN TUESDAY WILL RETURN TO THE DOWNTOWN ATHLETIC CLUB BEGINNING TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 4!

Between a world indoor champion, an NCAA standout and her coach, and the Eugene premiere of the documentary “The Hunt”, you will not want to miss 2020’s first TrackTown Tuesday on Feb. 4 at the Downtown Athletic Club.

Chanelle Price joined OTC Elite in the fall of 2019. She won the gold medal in the 800m at the 2014 World Indoor Championships in Sopot, Poland. She is the only American woman to ever win that title. Price owns a personal best of 1:59.10 in the 800m.

The Oregon track & field program will be represented by redshirt senior Carmela Cardama Baez, who placed second in the 10,000m at the 2019 NCAA Outdoor Championships in Austin, TX. In December, she broke the women’s indoor program record in the 5,000m with a stunning 15:25.41 at Boston University.

She will be joined onstage by Associate Head Coach Helen Lehman-Winters, who joined the UO coaching staff in 2018.

Finally, Jeff Merrill and Julian Heninger will be on hand to discuss the short film “The Hunt”, which goes behind-the-scenes at the Portland 5000, a race that was a collaboration between Portland Track and the Bowerman Track Club at Nike World Headquarters.

The screening of the documentary will take place during the social hour; Merrill and Heninger will then take to the stage to open the show. Merrill is a member of the Board of Directors at Portland Track. Heninger, a 2020 Olympic Trials – Marathon qualifier, raced the Portland 5000 and will provide insights on that experience.

Sasha Spencer Atwood, Director of Athletes & Teams Experience at Oregon21, will reprise her role as emcee.

The popular town hall meetings are free and open to the public. Doors open at 6 p.m. for a social hour, within which will be the screening of “The Hunt” from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. The one-hour show will begin at 7 p.m.

Two tickets to the opening day of the 2020 Olympic Trials will be raffled off during the show. $5 appetizers from the DAC and $3 beer from Hop Valley Brewing Company will be available for purchase. Free parking is available in the adjacent Overpark.
