TrackTown Tuesday scheduled on March 6 at Springfield hotel

Eugene, Ore. – (March 2, 2012) ­­–– The TrackTown12 Local Organizing Committee announces the next “TrackTown Tuesday,” on March 6, as the community prepares to host the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Track & Field.

 

The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, at the Hilton Garden Inn, 3528 Gateway Street, in Springfield. Refreshments will be provided beginning at 6:30 p.m.

 

The night’s featured guests will be two native Oregonian freshmen on the University of Oregon Track& Field team. Greg Skipper, hammer thrower from Oregon City and Sam Crouser, discus/javelin thrower from Gresham, will join Associate Athletic Director Vin Lananna, co-chair of TrackTown12 Local Organizing Committee. OTC Elite athletes in attendance will be two British athletes with home-country connections to the London Olympic Games: distance runner Chris Thompson and 800M and 1500M runner Jemma Simpson.

 

Sponsored by Dutch Bros. Coffee, the March 6“TrackTown Tuesday” is free and open to the public. Dutch Bros. will provide complimentary coffee beverages. Appetizers will also be provided by TrackTown USA organizers. 

 

In addition to hearing from the athletes, attendees will be the first to learn when single-day tickets to the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Track & Field will go on sale this spring. The announcement will be made by Lananna at the event.

 

Future “TrackTown Tuesday” meeting dates are April 3 at the Eugene Hilton, May 1 at the Oregon Electric Station and June 12 at a yet-to-be-determined location.

 

Eight day all-session passes for the 2012 Trials are on sale now at www.TrackTown12.com. In addition to the website, fans may also purchase tickets by calling the UO Athletic Ticket Office at 1-800-WEB-FOOT or by visiting the office in person at the Moshofsky Center next to Autzen Stadium.
